Lesson 3.3: Impact of Volatility on Option Pricing

Michael Gustin July 5, 2023

Volatility is a measure of the amount by which an underlying asset is expected to fluctuate in a given period. Greater volatility increases the likelihood that the option will become in-the-money at expiration and therefore, increases the option’s price. If volatility decreases, the option’s price decreases. Vega measures the sensitivity of an option’s price to changes in volatility.
